Going places...paths in the garden

Stepping stones through the garden

One of the features that I like to include in many of my garden designs is a stepping stone path. Both an aesthetic and a practical addition, the garden path can lend a unique look and feel to one’s garden, and allow easy access for weeding, pruning, planting, cutting and photographing flowers. The individual stones, besides keeping one’s feet dry and dirt (or mulch) free, also serve the purpose of protecting your soil by concentrating foot traffic along the path itself instead of having compaction occur with every random step through the garden. A carefully designed pathway guides one’s journey and allow the designer to set up various views and vistas and helps plan one’s experience more deliberately.
